Believed to have derived from a mutation of the Sanguinelli, the Tarocco is a widely popular Italian blood orange variety. Although its flesh is not as pigmented as other blood orange varieties, the Tarocco is one of the world’s most favored oranges due to its sweet taste and juiciness.
The flesh of the Tarocco orange is seedless and contains the highest vitamin C content of any orange variety in the world. As with all blood orange varieties, cooler temperatures lead to more pigmentation in the skin and flesh.
