The Washington Navel was imported into the United States from Brazil in 1870. Although it did not become very popular in Florida, the Washington soon became one of the most successful fresh fruit varieties in California.

Washington Navels are exceptionally sweet, seedless and peel very easily making them one of the best eating oranges available. The trees have a round, drooping canopy that grows to a moderate size at maturity.
