Released in 1959 by USDA scientists in Florida, the Lee tangerine is the result of a cross between a Clementine mandarin and Orlando tangelo. The Lee tangerine fruit is flattened in shape, with a thin, orange rind which contains juicy, sweet-tart flesh.
Lee tangerine trees have shown to be relatively cold-hardy throughout the years and although they do not require a pollinator for fruit development, one is recommended to help with productivity.
