Enjoyed for centuries, the Alphonso mango is a well-loved, distinctly Indian variety. Its flavor profile is that of a classic Indian mango - intense sweetness, warm richness and spiciness, and a hint of citrus-like acidity. The deep orange, aromatic flesh of the Alphonso is very creamy due to its almost total lack of fiber.

For best flavor balance, the fruit should be picked when it begins to yellow. The fruit is fully ripe and ready to be eaten when the skin has predominantly yellowed.

Due to their large size, Alphonso mango trees are not considered a good choice for growing in containers.
