The Brogdon avocado tree is known for its cold hardiness and initially caught growers' attention when it survived a winter in North Carolina. The skin is smooth and deep purple/black when ripe, and the creamy flesh is rich and nutty - somewhat similar to the flavor of the Hass avocado.
