The Super Alphonso mango is a recently developed variety by Gary Zill. The name comes from its parentage to the Alphonso mango but larger fruit size - they do not share a similar flavor profile, however. The taste is that of a classic, tropical mango with Indian spice.
The fruit should not be left to ripen on the tree, but rather, it should be harvested at full, green maturity and left to ripen indoors for 7-14 days.
Due to their medium to large size, Super Alphonso mango trees are not considered a good choice for growing in containers.
