Kohala longans are a variety of longan fruit known for their exceptional sweetness and juicy texture. Longans are small, round fruits that are closely related to lychees and rambutans. The Kohala variety is particularly prized for its large fruit size and delicious flavor that is reminiscent of butterscotch.
When ripe, Kohala longans have a thin, brownish-yellow outer skin that is easily peeled to reveal translucent, jelly-like flesh inside. The flesh is succulent and sweet with a floral aroma, often compared to a combination of grapes and pear. Each fruit typically contains a single large seed in the center, which is not consumed.
