Believed to be of Sicilian ancestry, the Moro blood orange is one of the most common pigmented orange varieties in North America. The tree grows vigorously and produces clusters of red-blushed oranges which show off the pigment anthocyanin, the same pigment that colors red grapes.
The flesh of the Moro is almost violet in color, nearly seedless and full of juice that has a distinctive berry-like taste.
