The Limequat is a unique citrus hybrid that combines the bright, tangy flavor of a Key Lime with the sweet, edible skin of a kumquat. This bite-sized citrus is perfect for fresh snacking, garnishes, marmalades, cocktails, and cooking, offering a bold burst of citrus flavor in every fruit.

With its moderate growth rate, fragrant white blossoms, and glossy evergreen foliage, the Limequat Tree is both ornamental and highly productive. Its compact growth habit makes it an excellent choice for backyard orchards, patios, container gardens, and edible landscapes where space may be limited.

About Our Trees

What makes the Limequat Tree different from a traditional lime tree?

The Limequat Tree produces a unique hybrid fruit that combines the tart flavor of a Key Lime with the sweet, edible peel of a kumquat. The fruit can be enjoyed whole or used in cooking, baking, cocktails, preserves, and marinades.

Can the Limequat Tree be grown in a container?

Yes. Dwarf and semi-dwarf Limequat Trees are excellent for container growing. With well-draining soil, full sun, and a large container, they thrive on patios, balconies, and in cooler climates where they can be moved indoors during freezing temperatures.

How do I care for a Limequat Tree?

Plant your Limequat Tree in a sunny location that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight each day. Water regularly while the tree becomes established, fertilize with a citrus-specific fertilizer throughout the growing season, and prune lightly as needed to maintain a healthy, productive tree.

How can I protect my tree from citrus greening and pests?

We highly recommend protecting your young trees from Asian psyllids and citrus greening (HLB) with a tree defender. For more information visit: www.thetreedefender.com

Should I mulch around my tree?

Do not pile mulch against the trunk. Excess moisture around the trunk can lead to decline, disease, and possible tree loss.
