The W. Murcott Mandarin is a premium late-season citrus variety prized for its exceptionally sweet, juicy flavor and easy-to-peel fruit. Often referred to as the "Afourer" mandarin, this variety produces deep orange fruit with a thin, smooth rind that separates easily from the flesh, making it an excellent choice for fresh eating.

This moderately sized tree is a productive addition to home orchards and edible landscapes, providing flavorful harvests during the winter months when many other citrus varieties have finished producing. While the fruit is naturally low-seeded, it may develop additional seeds if grown near compatible citrus varieties that provide cross-pollination.

About Our Trees

What makes the W. Murcott Mandarin Tree unique?

The W. Murcott Mandarin is known for its exceptionally sweet, juicy fruit, thin easy-to-peel rind, and late harvest season. It provides fresh citrus well into the winter when many other mandarin varieties have already finished producing.

Is the W. Murcott Mandarin really seedless?

The fruit is naturally low-seeded and often contains few or no seeds. However, if the tree is cross-pollinated by nearby compatible citrus varieties, the fruit may develop additional seeds.

How do I care for a W. Murcott Mandarin Tree?

Plant your W. Murcott Mandarin Tree in a location that receives at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily and has well-draining soil. Water regularly while the tree is becoming established, fertilize with a citrus-specific fertilizer throughout the growing season, and prune lightly to maintain healthy growth and encourage consistent fruit production.

How can I protect my tree from citrus greening and pests?

We highly recommend protecting your young trees from Asian psyllids and citrus greening (HLB) with a tree defender. For more information visit: www.thetreedefender.com

Should I mulch around my tree?

Do not pile mulch against the trunk. Excess moisture around the trunk can lead to decline, disease, and possible tree loss.
