About Our Trees

What makes Moro Blood Oranges different from regular oranges?

Moro Blood Oranges are prized for their deep crimson flesh and complex flavor profile. Cooler nighttime temperatures during fruit development often enhance their rich color, making each harvest both beautiful and flavorful.

Does the Moro Blood Orange Tree need another citrus tree to produce fruit?

No. The Moro Blood Orange Tree is self-pollinating and will produce fruit with just one tree. However, having other citrus trees nearby may increase pollinator activity and support heavier harvests.

Can I grow a Moro Blood Orange Tree in a container?

Yes. Dwarf and semi-dwarf Moro Blood Orange Trees are excellent candidates for container growing. Plant them in a well-draining pot with plenty of sunlight, making it easy to move the tree indoors or to a protected location during freezing weather.

How can I protect my tree from citrus greening and pests?

We highly recommend protecting your young trees from Asian psyllids and citrus greening (HLB) with a tree defender. For more information visit: www.thetreedefender.com

Should I mulch around my tree?

Do not pile mulch against the trunk. Excess moisture around the trunk can lead to decline, disease, and possible tree loss.
